People of many faiths are calling for international intervention to end the genocide in Sudan’s Darfur region. Simon Deng, a Sudanese Christian who was enslaved there as a child, accused Sudan’s Islamic rulers of slaughtering their fellow Muslims in Darfur. The executive director of the American Islamic Congress says she is glad that people of other faiths are calling attention to the continuing humanitarian and refugee crisis. Southern Baptist, Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox Christian, Unitarian and Jewish leaders agree that stopping the genocide and helping the victims in central Africa is a moral imperative.
